Editing provides an opportunity for communicators to sharpen their language and elevate the impact of their work.  The best writers in the world don't attempt to edit their own work - they are too close to it! When you've worked hard to create something, you need a fresh pair of eyes to make sure that it is as good as it can be.

• ensure that there are no spelling or grammatical errors

• carry out a basic fact check (including statistics, numbers or dates if applicable)

• take a hands-on approach to restructuring or reorganising text where necessary

• help to find the perfect word or phrase

• double-check alignment to style guides and general consistency

• format your document in a way that is appropriate and consistent.
